The regulator (ICO) used to fine businesses for not adhering to “consent” requirements as well as all those errors that lead to data breaches. Now GDPR allows them to fine you for not being transparent about why and how you process personal information, as well as not documenting these purposes beforehand.

Sandy will provide real life ICO cases and show you how to protect your firm and your clients. He will explain what documentation you should prepare and update regularly to comply with GDPR.

With the onset of the Common Reporting Standards and an ever increasing amount of information becoming available to HMRC, it is essential that accountants are aware of exactly what information could be in HMRC’s possession and the possible causes of tax enquiries. HMRC are devoting even more resources to tax investigations.

Kevin will look at the selection process and also some common issues that are arising with HMRC’s growing powers and increasingly aggressive attitude.   This practical presentation will also give some valuable tips on how these areas are being dealt with in practice.
